The creator of the James Bond character, Ian Fleming, was so impressed by Connery after watching Dr No that in later novels he gave James Bond a half Scottish and Swiss heritage.
Due to his success as Agent 007 he is considered by many to be the Bond by whom all others are compared with.

He has starred as James Bond in the following Sean Connery movies:
Dr No (1962)
From Russia With Love (1963)
Goldfinger (1964)
Thunderball (1965)

Sean Thomas Connery was born into a working class family in Edinburgh, Scotland. He left school early to work before joining the Navy at age 16. After three years of service his navy career was cut short by a stomach ulcer.
He then returned to Edinburgh working in a range of jobs including bricklaying and coffin polishing. He spent most of his spare time bodybuilding which led to his acting career.
For nearly eight years Connery persevered in modelling, acting in theatrical parts and chorus appearances before landing his first major role in the film Another Time, Another Place in 1958. Just four years later his illustrious James Bond film career began.

Connery became famous throughout the world in the role of James Bond, Agent 007. After Diamonds are Forever (1971) he expanded his repertoire by appearing in films from a variety of genres including Murder on the Orient Express (1974), and Outland (1981).
In 1983 Connery returned as Agent 007 one last time in Never Say Never Again, an unofficial James Bond film.
